O primeiro sismógrafo eletromagnético

Aconteceu em 2 de março de 1862 o nascimento de Boris Borisovich Golitsyn, físico russo que em 1906 inventou o primeiro sismógrafo eletromagnético.

Golitsyn foi um dos fundadores da moderna sismologia, e em 1911 foi eleito presidente da Associação Internacional de Sismologia.

Era da família Golitzine, uma das principais linhagens nobres da Rússia Imperial. Morreu em 1916.

Born in 1862, he graduated in the Naval College in 1880, he attended lectures in the Naval Academy. In 1887, Mr.. Golitsyn went abroad and studied physics at Strasbourg. Since 1892. lectured at Moscow University. In 1893, Mr.. Golitsyn was appointed to the post of extraordinary professor in the Department of Physics Yurievsky University, but in the same year was elected an Associate of the Academy of Sciences in Physics. Since 1894. Golitsyn was a teacher of physics in Nicholas's Maritime Academy. In 1897. Golitsyn was assigned to the Department of experimental physics in the women's medical school. In 1896, Mr.. Golitsyn participated in expeditions to Novaya Zemlya to observe a total solar eclipse. In 1898, Mr.. elected to the extraordinary academics, and in 1908. in ordinary. Since 1899. by 1905. was manager of the expedition harvested government securities. In 1903, Mr.. Golitsyn was elected vowel Petersburg City Duma. In 1910,. Golitsyn received Honorary Doctor, University of Manchester. In 1911, Mr.. elected president of the International Seismological Association.
